We made some big announcements this week, but ROBLOX Studio 2.0 was the one that resonated with readers the most. We’re excited to release it for its polished interface, perhaps more so for the framework on which it’s built. The Maker Faire experience, from ROBLOX’s eyes

Many members of the ROBLOX team — including yours truly — spent some of last weekend at the Maker Faire Bay Area 2012. We snapped photos, talked with ROBLOX users and saw some amazing work, some of which we documented for the blog.

When we announced that RGC 2012 tickets dropped to $10, the incoming traffic brought down our blog for a short while. We were inspired by the Maker Faire and its diversity of attendees, and felt that dropping the price would help us create a similar atmosphere.

Trading system update

While we offered a sneak peek of our upcoming trading system to everyone last Friday, we reserved testing the system for some of our resourceful and endlessly connected Twitter followers. After roughly three days of testing, we had about 4,000 users create test accounts, and they had traded 2,384 items across 633 completed transactions.

The rest of the trades – all 8,600 of them – were still open, expired or declined. Users had actually tallied 6,475 declines; either you’re all very savvy business people who refuse to be taken for a ride, or you just love saying “no.”

The most traded item, at 622, was Dominus Empyreus, a limited, collectible hat. The next closest item was the Purple Sparkletime Fedora, which was traded 460 times. Of course, when you factor in the declined trades, only 48 and 47 trades, respectively, were accepted.

  5. i think they should make a trade confrence in every state, because i want to go to the trade confrence, and the trade confrence is in california, and i live in north carolina. they would make a lot more money selling tickets that way.

  6. A few weeks back, I heard rumors about the new ROBLOX Trade System. I was very excited about this, because I have lots of Limiteds that I don’t want to sell, but trade. And then I lost my Turbo Builders Club. I then thought to myself “At least I will be able to trade my hats still.” And then the post came out about the Trade System being only for Builder’s Club members. Yes, I was a bit upset. I paid enough for Lifetime Turbo Builders Club by the time it expired for me. I was earning 105 ROBUX per day too. I just want to say that, for people with a similar experience as me, I agree that the Trading System should be open to the entire community.

  14. I don’t want ANY more awesome updates to be BC-only! It’s not fair! Can’t the Robloxian 2.0 body be NBC but real expensive? Like, c’mon, guys!

  15. I really agree with the trading system program… but I beleive it should be for everyone, with any item.

    • I’m thinking the problem with the every item being able to be traded would be that some people would trade expenxive hats for the cheap hats just to be “nice” which could enrage some people…but that’s just what I’m guessing… :l

  19. Omg, its bc and it should be bc. Selling of limiteds is bc and if ts is nbc then a lot less people will buy and sell and thats bad. Also a lot more people will try and steal acts and make alts to get limiteds.

    • Wait. Explain to me how if NBC’s were able to sell limiteds, how it would result in less sales. Although I agree, trade system should be BC only.

  27. PLEASE, don’t make the trading system BC. At least that! Also think about those who have bought BC before many times, and now this trading thing comes out, and non-bcers can’t use it? There are already plenty of things that are BC-only. I’ve bought TBC once, and OBC 5 times, and when the trading system comes out, non-bcers won’t be able to use it? That’s a really bad move. Think about the non-bcers who enjoy ROBLOX and the ex-BCers. I don’t want to be forced to have to buy BC a 7th time. I will again anyway, and so will many people, so please, make the trading system non-BC admins.

    • They make most things BC only because its easy to make an alt account that’s non BC and use it to get more things. They are trying to make a shield for people who do that.

  32. Awesome. My BC expired a while back so I have to wait til possibly Christmas to get BC. But not getting the trading system won’t be such a drag since I only own a couple limiteds that aren’t worth much. As for the RS 2.0, I can’t wait. Keep it up ROBLOX!

  34. guys you know why its BC only because NBCs cant sell limiteds so if you trade a limited with an NBCer whats the point when the NBCer can’t sell it but you can… Duh

    • The traiding system is a way to trade, not sell. Get your facts right.

    • Not True! NBCer’s Have RARE stuff Like “FreindlyLOLpwnzer” and “Gnignaber”(I Met Them BOTH!)(Gnignaber was on the front page!)

  35. Some kids can’t afford to buy BC because they are too young to have jobs and parents wont buy it.

    • Not all kids but others people from other countrys can’t buy BC because ROBLOX do not made many country to have BC Cards!

    • Actually, they could tell their parents they will do their chores or something, in return for a Roblox Game Card every month, or monthly Builders Club. You don’t need to have a job to get BUilders Club, but you do need to work for it.
