We at ROBLOX ultimately want all of our users to be able to create anything they imagine: everything from fast, competitive games to massive, detailed structures, and have them all run silky-smooth. As part of this grand vision, the ROBLOX Content Team recreated a classic level, Longest Yard (DM17), from a classic game, Quake 3. It’s a one-to-one copy, built in the ROBLOX engine. We’re going to use it to compare ROBLOX’s in-game performance with that of the tested-and-true Quake Live. If you aren’t familiar with Quake, it’s a first-person shooter series characterized by its fast pace, capacity for acrobatic maneuvers, and best-in-class networked performance.

We’re confident today that the prototype is ready for public testing. The movement speeds are about right, the jump pads feel good and we think it’s a worthy, entertaining way to measure our engine performance. Join many ROBLOX staff members today at 4:30 PM PST for a public playtest.   1. Most peeps in the comments are idiots. They’re testing to see if they could have a game run as fast as Quake 3. ROBLOX is a game that allows you to create replicas like that, seeing that it’s vision is to allow you create anything! They need to up the performance, and doing this to test if they were successful is definitely in my books. Seriously people,, this is just an advanced game on ROBLOX, stop yammering and whining about it like history is ruined.

    And Meshes are banned for everyone, but you can still upload them if you know the script. It’s just like music. If you actually pay attention, you’d realize the only reason it “doesn’t look like ROBLOX” is because they use scripts and put effort into building. Free models were removed because most created lag, and it helps push people to start building there own things. Gosh, please stop complaining, The stamper tool isn’t that bad of an update, and if you just keep going and throwing accusations without even thinking about it, it makes you look stupid.

Oh cmon this will ruin roblox as it is now just like that new Robloxian body thing they are trying to make i mean why don’t you guys first make the builders club catagory improved (Sorry for bad spelling) atleast add a payment option in the bc catagory so that ppl from out europe can get bc tbc obc too like add a payment option for a debit card….

    Better rotation control on the special tools
    Ability to change the description of a place while updating it

    • i got a package idea and this sounds awesome the game but dont you think you should make a dominus package? 300 1000 500 robux with 2 dominus on the shoulders yellow golden armor and 5 dominus on the body?

  19. As if,This was a new program into making games in roblox, Then it would be a problem with meshes,Like now, Meshes are banned,I mean i would really like to see this, But The mesh problem will come back.I would like to play a realistic game like this.

    • There is no old ROBLOX, there was no beta, what you could say is “what happened to the 08 days,” a lot of people don’t like when people say Old ROBLOX because it means your trying to sound cool by being on a long time.

      • Roblox was never “blocky”, roblox has always strived to give the builders full control, and they’re getting better at it.

    Plain old ROBLOX isn’t what it was meant to be. The wanted to evolve which is exactly what they are doing.
    It is a place of creativity. And if you can make something like QUAKE from the ROBLOX engine. Then that us just proof of progress.

    • Dude people on ROBLOX copy tings all the time you probably arent original either. This game is cool. Its made for building anything you want. Its supposed to be fun. Minecraft does it too.

  44. Don’t you think you should put an anti-hacking system like PunkBuster and a new physics engine like Havok? Because, well, hacking is probably the biggest problem in Roblox. Do you like hackers, admins? Of course NO. Players don’t like hackers either so DO SOMETHING.

  47. Hello, there. I am loot99. I quit ROBLOX awhile ago and then decided to check back on it. I now play MineCraft. People say ; where are the blox? I say MineCraft is turning into ROBLOX 2009. The game is made up of blocks, but thats only why I say that. The game is cool, I like the graphics, but really. ROBLOX, where is the blox?
