If you’ve been following the ROBLOX blog for the past few months, you’ve probably seen one of our three hotly debated “Character Explorations” posts, in which we’ve shown the ongoing design progress for our version-3.0 character models. Love them or not, your feedback has helped shape the look of the future ROBLOX.
This time around, we’ve taken the new 3D bodies to the next level by creating fully dressed, personality-rich prototype characters and putting them into motion. Check out this post for a video preview from ROBLOX Art Director Jonathan Jahr.
Our new character models, once released, will be optional and compatible with previously released catalog items. If you’re a longtime user who’s attached to the original look, you’re welcome to stick with it. But don’t be surprised when you start seeing some new faces in ROBLOX.

I agree. New players don’t relise that us older players are what keeps this game going. Without our knowings of how ROBLOX works, no one would understand ROBLOX. ROBLOX is neglecting our pleas to stop this, and if this continues, a fear that ROBLOX will have dark days in it’s future… Like it or not…

If the bodies get changed…you would need to change the whole game……terrain and building wise…
The bodies……for some reason don’t really say, ROBLOX, to me. They seem more like bodies you can buy though, are they?
i notice that the people that want the 3.0 are freeby’s and the people who hate them have a bc current or in the past so why should Roblox match either party’s demands you should comment on what you think not suggest a price so you can snag one cheap and like he said if you don’t want one they are OPTIONAL so get a life and stop scrutinizing Roblox.

Roblox is making horrible decisions. This is probably the worst one that they’ve EVER had. These bodies where literally designed for OD’ers! I’m glad this is optional. No way I would ever get this.

I just look back at the good old days but the new bodys are fine, Just I like my 1.0 more.
Still thinking may try one just for the heck of it. The look just like the ones from KREO Battleship games that they came out with earlier.

Guys. Come down, its optional. I don’t particuarly like them either but as long as long as they’re optional it’s fine. Just imagine these as a new package, something you buy and I’m hoping for the NBC members that do like these that they aren’t a BC feature.

Also, as to how infrequently packages come out, what about individual templates?

ROBLOX. Look around you. ODers ALL OVER THE PLACE. And you want to release the bodies that doesn’t even match the name? Think. Copying other brands doesn’t make you guys cool. It simply creates more lawsuit problems(like the circle studs -.-)

So this is what roblox is doing while just about every other game I go to is exploited. I will admit these bodies aren’t bad. But roblox, are you not paying attention to what’s happening in the games, or are you ignoring it and trying to distract are attention from it by making new bodies and hosting, “Mock Hackathon’s?”
When i look at this, i see a different game. What? Roblox? Impossible! Well, YOU WILL NEVER CATCH ME WEARING IT BLOCK BODIES ARE GOOD ENOUGH!
I have to admit, they’re good. However, if these become the new 2.0, how much will they cost? Are they BC-only?
First of all, the new bodies look like LEGO and KREO combined. Second of all, people complain that they like the old ROBLOX better. (Honestly, I do not like the new bodies either.)

Look, although this is an optional choice I just don’t enjoy this idea of 3.0 robloxian. The 2.0 had a great design and it was one of a kind, I could deal with it. But now this is getting way out of hand. These 3.0s look too much like KREO and not only that but it’s pulling away more of the old crowd of us robloxians, and a whole lot less new. I truely miss the old roblox. Roblox you have messed up big.

I totaly Agree, why hate something that you dont have to be forced with it? Its just like Hats, Back then people though hats would run roblox becuase they werent “blocks.” Well we learn to like things. And you dont have to like Bodys, Becuase its optional and so are hats.
Well, ROBLOX had heads in 2004. They had them in 2005. They had heads before hats. 5 YEARS LATER, THERE WILL STILL BE HEADS. Heads are not ‘Blocks’ Either.
I know, and people in 2008 thought that shirts and pants would ruin ROBLOX because they could be to detailed, but they really weren’t. In 2010 people thought that 2.0 bodys would ruin ROBLOX, then the all knew that they where all an option. Now here in 2012 people are thinking the same exact thing about 3.0 bodys. Spo guys, don’t worry, because even in the video it says that they are an option.
People looking like the normal ROBLOXian, or any packages that exist now, just look like ROBLOXians. People with these will look like they’re from Lego or something.
