Character Prototype ScreenshotIf you’ve been following the ROBLOX blog for the past few months, you’ve probably seen one of our three hotly debated “Character Explorations” posts, in which we’ve shown the ongoing design progress for our version-3.0 character models. Love them or not, your feedback has helped shape the look of the future ROBLOX.

This time around, we’ve taken the new 3D bodies to the next level by creating fully dressed, personality-rich prototype characters and putting them into motion. Check out this post for a video preview from ROBLOX Art Director Jonathan Jahr.

Our new character models, once released, will be optional and compatible with previously released catalog items. If you’re a longtime user who’s attached to the original look, you’re welcome to stick with it. But don’t be surprised when you start seeing some new faces in ROBLOX.

  6. Yet, I don’t like this one bit. Even though it’s optional and we’re not being forced to wear this, we will still be expecting to see it, because of some of the people’s want for this body.

    Though I do appreciate the fact that this is optional.
    But this is got to be the lowest of updates.

  12. Don’t implement these into roblox just start patching holes in the system that allows exploiters and hackers patch those then work on other things (not this body 3.0 never release it you will lose a ton of players because its making the bodies look like lego’s not unique style of roblox.

  14. Guys look stop complaining these are OPTIONAL ,NOT mandatory ,perhaps there will be more “noobs” as many robloxians call other robloxians. BUT DOES IT REALLY MATTER??? What matters is that roblox is trying to reach out to more user it’s called PROGRESS and until you guys own a successful corporation and have all the weight of stress on you back the workers at roblox do STOP COMPLAINING becuase I guarantee most of you know nothing about business and keeping one running if you guys don’t like the new bodies THAT’S FINE ! My opinion is “neutral” about these bodies I don’t neccasarily like them BUT HEY I DON’T Hate them either.im sorry I’m just tired of seeing everyone complaining ,sure the old days were great! But things change every generation is different. come on people the workers at Roblox have put alot of work into making this site ,finding new ways on how to attract and keep users ,and this is how you repay them? Roblox has made it easier for “noobs” to build sure it’s not as great as using studio but they are new users hence the term “noobs” we all were noobs at one point.

  18. I respect the ROBLOX staff’s decision to make these, because you have to try to bring out new stuff to keepit interesting. But please, ROBLOX staffers, I’m trying to set up a good arguement, not some pathetic rant. If you could, for example, host a poll every now and then to see what your community thinks, what the players of ROBLOX think and would like in the game. I understand you’re working hard for all of us, and I really appreciate it, it means a lot, and I hope the rest of ROBLOX feels the same way. Please consider my suggestion.

The only reason im still on this game is because i didnt update studio2.noob, this game needs the better gameplay,not candom combonation of lego people and sqares. i fist joined when the orognal happyhome in roboloxia was here on this game, and i can remeber pressing the build button and seeing the normal build tools, and i painted my house and put some furniture in. then i found out what a group was and joined one. i started making stuff with minecarts and a secret base.
    then i found out what studio mode was and i remember when OD’ers who didnt know how to build wernt able to make good looking stuff. I also remember when i bought my first set of clothes and look good on my sqare body, and i managed to get bc. it was all fun until the “4X4″ (noob) building sysem came out and allowed noobs to build cool things which shouldnt happen. this game should be more like when just after the 2.0 boadies came out, and no “4X4″ bricks, just the orgional build tools. those were the days. i gave the bodies a noob/10

    I am shocked with what you are doing to a perfectly fine game. All that you are going to do is lose old original players from 2006-2009. As a player from 2008 I am enraged that the you are actually going to go through with such a drastic change. Roblox is called ro*BLOX* for a reason! This game is supposed to be blocky and unique, but now I can see that Roblox is just going to be changed to make it appealing to new players. This opens up a whole new window of opportunity for online daters to look “hot” with the latest and most realistic body. I was shocked when 2.0 came out, but got used to it. With the new bodies coming out, I don’t think I will ever get used to it. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again that this is ROBLOX, not RoRealistic. I suggest that this change is dropped or you will lose a significant amount of players, probably including me. I know that this post is just a shot in the dark but at least consider my opinion and all the other opinions you went against.

    • I completely agree with yum i will leave and lot of people will these body are outragous ive loved my old block body forever now evertime i join a game if your not wearing a 2.0 body your a noob i cant wait to see what they say when 3.0 come out.

  39. Rather than adding ROBLOX studio 2.0, and 3.0 bodies. Fix the holes in your system, also updated the engine. Remember that same engine that you said you were going to update, almost a year ago? What was the name of it, Ogre 2.0 “that was it.” that’s what will fix almost half the holes in the system and probably bring in new people to feed your over sized wallets! Hope not to see this implemented into the game.

  40. I, for one, would think that robloxian 3.0 bodies would be a good addition to roblox. Robloxian 3.0 bodies are closer to human-like structure than 2.0, therefore making the whole roblox game better, in my opinion of course.

  46. Well, I (Being a Girl) Am somewhat pleased to see Girl Bodies for us Girls of Roblox as a prototype. I have been harrassed many times for being (on ROBLOX) “fat”. It’s not my fault I don’t have BC, TBC, or even OBC, so I cannot get the bodies all my harrassers have. I am hoping they make these free. BUT, one problem is, ODers are going to love this. And why waste all this time trying to make new bodies? ROBLOX needs to have its system upgraded. Too many bugs, hackers, and GUI messes. *Sigh* Oh well. At least it’s optional..

  47. 1.0 is the best body I know right now. 2.0, ya it’s not that bad… But 3.0? Sure it looks terrible but I’ll give it try. I don’t think it will work out but it’s worth a try.

  50. I like these bodies and if anyone who doesn’t DON’T BUY IT! I’m a big fan of ROBLOX and its creations and this is pretty nice. New faces and new bodies are what we need. Besides its been almost half a year or more since a new face has came out! Now they have givin I suggest you be nice and atleast thank ROBLOX for running a game for you all! I miss the old ROBLOX just like all of you. But stop dwelling in the past and look in the future! If you can’t do that then thats a problem.

  55. On second thought, I just watched the video and realised that 90% of them look like crap >.<. I can already see, the hundreds of people all looking alike. Im just going to get the army ones, and im not even going to put them on, just have them as collector crap :P. And I agree with swimygreen, I wish they would focus more on gameplay then on this…

      • Yeah, they look more like legos 3.0 is a little more original since KReo was similar to lego minecraft’s bodies are like roblox’s 1.0 so this is more original anyways the bodies have more “BLOX” then 1.0 so kiddies shut up and eat your spinach because roblox is actually looking original since no other toy or game can copy our bodies without any of us players noticing.

    I like the new idea with the bodies, but maybe you could put in some animations to the arms and legs when you move and die. Anyway, i love the soldier one and i would like it all t be like 10 tix for the hat and a robux for the bodie, beacause alot o’NBCs are getting md of the lag of NBC stuff ^^. ~Gaara1324

Allright. whats going on is exactly liek the release of the 2.0 bodies. you all think ‘oooh their ugly. ‘ ‘its so weird’ and certainly not last, nor least ‘they encourage online dating’ No. they dont. Online dating is compleatly optional to those who commit it. the bodies have no effect. their was online datien four years ago when only the block bodies existed. whats going on, is roblox is trying to make the characters more realistic.
