Character Prototype ScreenshotIf you’ve been following the ROBLOX blog for the past few months, you’ve probably seen one of our three hotly debated “Character Explorations” posts, in which we’ve shown the ongoing design progress for our version-3.0 character models. Love them or not, your feedback has helped shape the look of the future ROBLOX.

This time around, we’ve taken the new 3D bodies to the next level by creating fully dressed, personality-rich prototype characters and putting them into motion. Check out this post for a video preview from ROBLOX Art Director Jonathan Jahr.

Our new character models, once released, will be optional and compatible with previously released catalog items. If you’re a longtime user who’s attached to the original look, you’re welcome to stick with it. But don’t be surprised when you start seeing some new faces in ROBLOX.

    • You need to make it nbc only!
      But with a price like 50Robux so its still not for noobs!
      I think this is a good idea becouse everyone with bc are like rich!
      They can do just everything and nbcers can do almost nothing!
      Or just make it veteran only!
      Everyone with the Veteran badge can buy it!

    • If it is default, ROBLOX would be poor on members and ROBLOX would be an adults only game and not a kids game as it will fill up the game with people interested in porn and OD’ers. Anyways, REMOVE 3.0 BODIES (remove enderman plays)

  4. ok personally i love the idea of the 3.0 body but plz make them look more roblox authentic like less lego like and more epic like and plz dont make ot 2000R$ or the liked i want somthing affordable and also can you stop taking 25% of the money we get from limiteds most of the time we are losing because of it make buying it almost worthless and plz create the trading system i hate losing my limiteds to scammers while trying to trade thnx roblox i hope you read this

  15. I hope that these Robloxian 3.0 bodies will be cheap (Like 50 to 100) because they look so awesome!
    Keep going ROBLOX, these new prototype bodies are looking really awesome, and I think that they will turn out amazing!

  19. I don’t really care for the new bodies. The only thing I hate about them is that they seem ODer like and that this is roblox and we are losing our memorable “Blox” and we are turning into action figures. But, If these bodies pass, will we get to keep our other current bodies as well?

    • I dont like them… I say we should be able to change them to our character and change them back…

  23. I don’t understand why people don’t want these, yet, they want everything else on ROBLOX. It’s like when a new video game comes out, it may look bad, but once you play it, you start to like it. I say, BRING US THE NEW ROBLOX!
    (But first, give back Insert tools in Build Mode.)

  26. right..this game is slowly turning into Minecraft! a big jump was the introduction of the stamper tool, and this does look VERY KRE-O and i think roblox is eventually going to end up like one of those cheesy online games that only 6 year olds play if we keep changing it so much, Basicly..STICK WITH OLD BODYS! xD

  35. Well, if they’re optional, then that’s totally fine with me. It’s just like other packages, but they’re made in a different way. I’m okay with it. And I would love to use one of those faces.

I like them, I can see if they can be a Optional Way to look like say like a butten that says REALISTIC and a Butten that says Blocky And lego cant really sue them I believe because they never mentioned about it being like legos but It should be for all Players that they can choose if they want to be this or not If you dont like it Dont play roblox its there game there discision Im sorry to say that but its true.

    • I actually like realistic so your we is actually subjective meaning if you don’t know.Proceeding from or taking place in a person’s mind rather than the external world.Also the word we is objective meaning more than yourself and basically the world as in Roblox.So you should say I don’t want realistic!

  41. Honestly I’m 50/50. I dislike the new bodies but I do like the updates. but the updates should be on something else other than the roblox bodies. We already have plenty of updated roblox bodies that a lot of people love but a lot of people do like these new roblox bodies the roblox staff has created But I wouldn’t buy it if you did put it up for sale. I think roblox should be updated once in a while but start with the little things.

    • I don’t know if they will be free but I hope so too, I hope they will be for NBC who want a little change, and I hope they show up very soon!

  46. i like the old roblox better and thats the resone i dont buy bc becuase the only thing you get with it is wat torsosa and more options for you server but yes they do look a very very very tiny bit color but i personaly like the old ones better like the ones u have when you first join or as a guest so ya you can add them but to me poitnless

  50. First thing I know I quit ROBLOX then I said “I should come back to RROBLOX, because I played it since I was 7 Which was in 2007″. Then the next thing I know ROBLOX put some weird thing called “New prototype bodies” Then I think again. “Maybe I should quit ROBLOX until they come to their senses again, and put it how it was in 2007.

  51. I’m starting to think ROBLOX is trying to “modernize” at a much faster rate than the community. They should have the majority decide what should happen to ROBLOX, what features would make it better and etc. Not force the ideas to the players and expect them to enjoy it 100% of the time. All these bodies are going to do are attract online daters. And also, as a previous commentor said, these premade clothes for the new bodies deny the right to creativity or originality.

  57. Great. If this goes on sale, i bet only about like 10 ppl are going to buy. im mean just look at the name. ROBLOX NOT ROLEGO. Block= A type of object that has 6 equal of none equal size of matter. Lego= A toy that kids love to play with and expresse their ideas with. Now see the difference? Once this goes out on sale, I will post a comment about how its trying to rip off Legos and make Roblox more idiotic with even worse noobs. Thumbs up if you agree with this comment!

This is not what it should be, Seriously, We’re going to put lego in a Roblox universe, Roblox means Blocks, Get it!, These are not blocky and will make more online daters, They also have premade clothing, This does not make outragous action like, (Ninja’s, Samauri’s, Knights, Soldiers, Generals, or anyhting like Anime, Etc.) Plus, We got an anime drawer on Roblox.

    • I think these look like blox but it is starting to look like legos. But still it is ROBLOX, they always change!

  62. These are well-made, I think the future of ROBLOX is shining brightly, even though this may be an upgrade for OD’ers, what do we have to lose? These are amazing! But, for some people or NBC’s are worrying,
    will these be cheap and non-BC?

      • I joined ROBLOX in 08, and have i complained about these once? NO! I have learned in my almost 4 years of playing ROBLOX that the best way to deal with new updates is just to accept them, not hate about them on the blog.

  63. If I were a Legos manager. I would sue you. ROBLOX is about blocks, not stupid legos. I hate legos anyways! Stick to what roblox really is, not the opposite. I loved ROBLOX when the physics were upgraded and before we had a stamper tool for building tools in studio mode.

    • I agree. If Roblox kept the same fundamentals now as they did back in 2008 when I joined, I would still play this game as avidly as I did from the beginning. Unfortunately, I can no longer say as much for the game.

  64. Horrible. Just Horrible. First of all, their trying to make us look more “Realistic” which we dont want. Secondly, they all have premade clothing. This does not express the promise for Creativity and the right to make whatever you want on roblox as long as its appropriate. This goes against everything roblox was made for.

      • ROBLOX is not taking in the users input. Almost as if when ROBLOX Employees go to work, they get bored so they screw with things that people love. ROBLOX is known for low quality. Kids like low quality games…*Cough Minecraft is one*

  68. As Pandy100 said, it used to be RoBLOX. When I was off ROBLOX for six months, I was expecting ultra realisitic bodies. I was fortunate enough to find that the reality I feared was not true…yet. Please try to retain Blockie bodies. Packages are normally only cool for games based on IRL games (CoD, Killzone, TF2, etc.). I know that packages are optional, but I still don’t like them.
