The public beta for ROBLOX Studio 2.0, the latest version of ROBLOX’s game-development application, is now available. You can download it here and give us your feedback on our Studio 2.0 forum. Please note that this beta is for Windows users only; ROBLOX Studio for Mac already uses our new framework and interface. Installing Studio 2.0 will not interfere with Studio 1.0, so you’ll be able to use both at the same time.

Your feedback is the most important part of this beta test. As you experiment with Studio 2.0, make specific, well documented notes that will help us identify areas that still need polish. The following points are a few relevant things to consider.

  • ROBLOX Studio 2.0What works well? What doesn’t?
  • Where do you notice performance issues?
  • Did you experience a crash? What caused it?
  • How is the user interface intuitive/unintuitive?
  • What works better than it did in ROBLOX 1.0? What do you think is worse?
  • How can we make Studio 2.0 better?

As you may remember from our announcement, Studio 2.0 promises a more consistent user experience across Mac and PC platforms, improved performance and ease of use, and a polished user interface. You can now see for yourself.

  9. Make Studio 2.0 better by: A: Finishing it. B: Having it ask you if U want to use Studio 2.0 when Build Mode starts.

    • On a side note I liked the Stamper tool how it used to be. Do you mind updating the old Stamper with the new parts? Thanx. :D

  10. Studio 1.0 stopped working in Build Mode for me when the 2.0 Beta came out. Can you make it so when you start build mode it asks you something like this, “Which version of Studio would you like to use this Build session?” Then buttons would pop up saying “None, Studio 1.0, Studio 2.0″ then you can click which one U want. That way people can use whichever version of studio they like best. I’m trying 2.0 personally… as soon as Full version’s out.

  11. When Studio 2.0 beta was released 1.0 stopped working in Build Mode for me. Will the full version of 2.0 be compatible with Build Mode? If so you should make it so when you start Build Mode a little window will pop up asking “Do you want to use Roblox Studio 2.0, 1.0, or None with this Build session?” Or something like that, then those 3 buttons will pop up. I mean come on, it can’t be too difficult compared with a lot of the other stuff you’ve done. Plus I’m getting tired of having to use Edit mode for building… Oh and BTW when WILL the Full Version B out?

  15. Its too laggy, i can download it, i use it, i see how its laid out pretty smooth and cool. but 2 setbacks i want to mention. It has more ping than the regular studio and the toolbox has a few errors. So i recommend bringing the regular studios back for the time being.

  17. Studio 2.0 is O.K. I think you need to add a bar so you can scroll left and right on explorer properties and the scripts. Just my opinion. You do have a bigger screen that I enjoy because it has more room to see. Oh, also I’m trying to get used to the new format. I think it’s ok though. I’m glad to see I can play with my character which I enjoy. In summary I think Studio 2.0 is O.K. but maybe some more things could be added. As people have said a C-Frame and make it easier building, not harder to build.

  18. Great. Now my two main games are very hard to work on, considering I did most of it in Build Studio. However, it’s getting increasingly obvious that ROBLOX just wants it to be harder to create things that aren’t from their stamper.

  19. I can download it an stuff but when I go to use it says I have uninstall it to recieve updates.. But when I do and come back here there’s no new Studio verison out. So then I ignore the message and it says We are upgrading please come back later.. It’s been saying that for the past 2 weeks.. What should I do.?

  20. OH MY GOD XD I finally figured out how to open the 2.0 studio and it looks and works fine, I’m not gonna build because I know it wont be permanent right? So yeah.

  34. Wheres the delet Tool! Wiring! Reg Bricks! ITS SO LAGGY. MY toolbox doesent work. NOTHING GOOD! FIND THE DELET TOOL!!!!!

    • I have been thinking that Studio 1 is kind of like Studio 2. When you don’t want a brick, try clicking it and press the Delete button on your keyboard.

  35. I have been running in to problems opening the program. I am running Windows 8 Consumer Preview, and when I open the program, it appears with this error message: “The program can’t start because QtGui4.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.”
    If this program is really platform-independent, then there must be a problem with the download.

  36. Personally, when I tested it it was great but I just want regular bricks. The old school normal building bricks, not the blocky building bricks. >.<. I remember when I tested it I had to go to free models to get a brick I wanted… So as long as they added the old school bricks I dont care :P. And just a suggestion but a C-Frame tool would be great too, it will take off alot of trouble when building. Other then that, it boots fast for me, and it is amazing.

  43. You removed all posibility of c-framing, my one best tool. I hate 2.0, to be completely honest, and if build mode (studio build) is still there, i can’t access it.

  47. when i tryed to log on it wouldnt let me but then i created a different account while on it and it worked and i loged off and bak on but it still wasnt working

  48. Wow, ROBLOX Studio 2.0 is pretty amazing. At first I didn’t know how to use it because the key symbols.

  50. Absolutely stupid, I typed my passwords I used to have and none worked.

  52. ROBLOX Studio 2.0 runs fine on my machine. For some reason, it doesn’t run fast when booting up or on the website, but the scripting/building speed is INSANELY increased. I am running a high quality machine, but my older PC would run this just fine. I think that an improvement could be made on the booting speed, as it does take about a minute to initialize. Other than the slow startup speed, I think you’ve done an EXCELLENT Job! Based on the complaints I have seen so far, most people are complaining about the booting of the program. Perhaps there may be a way to speed up the process.

  53. I have been using it for awhile when there was no my models. Got on now and I found my models back. I’m loving 2.0!

  54. Brilliant! We can use Build mode with it! It’ll take me a while to learn all the new symbols, but I can live with this.

  56. im so annoyed i try to log in and it says my password wrong but when i go on normal roblox stusdio i can log in with same username and password can u sort it out plz i want to see what studio 2 acctualt does plz sort it my friend cant log in iver

  58. First of all guys is BETA which is still in progress.Second, I don’t like it either.3rd I want the old studios back which is way faster and easy. Guys also send me a PM why it won’t let me build in studio mode with the properties and models and the other tools.

    • Because ROBLOX decided to make a bad update and remove Studio form build mode.

    Reasons:
    1. Too many Icons! AND THE ICONS DONT EVEN LOOK LIKE WHAT THEIR TOOLS DO!

    2. WHERE THE HECK IS THE ‘MY MODELS’ THING?! I DO NOT WANT TO FREE MODEL MY PLACES!
