The public beta for ROBLOX Studio 2.0, the latest version of ROBLOX’s game-development application, is now available. You can download it here and give us your feedback on our Studio 2.0 forum. Please note that this beta is for Windows users only; ROBLOX Studio for Mac already uses our new framework and interface. Installing Studio 2.0 will not interfere with Studio 1.0, so you’ll be able to use both at the same time.

Your feedback is the most important part of this beta test. As you experiment with Studio 2.0, make specific, well documented notes that will help us identify areas that still need polish. The following points are a few relevant things to consider.

  • ROBLOX Studio 2.0What works well? What doesn’t?
  • Where do you notice performance issues?
  • Did you experience a crash? What caused it?
  • How is the user interface intuitive/unintuitive?
  • What works better than it did in ROBLOX 1.0? What do you think is worse?
  • How can we make Studio 2.0 better?

As you may remember from our announcement, Studio 2.0 promises a more consistent user experience across Mac and PC platforms, improved performance and ease of use, and a polished user interface. You can now see for yourself.

For all people who use windows seven all you have to do to get it to work is go to your start menu than click all programs and you will need to find the file that is called roblox beta and you click on it you will se a file called roblox studio beta and you will need to left click it a list of things will come up you need to choose open file location than you need to click on the file called roblox studio beta and it will work

  4. this is messed up. I had builders club back in 2011 and when i get in all my friends look like they wher in 2011 and so do i. all my games are back to the way they wher in 2011!!!!

    i want to use the 2.0 but i cant on my MODERN games!!!!

  5. You guys know that the admins said to be specific. If you don’t be specific with what the problem is, how are they supposed to know what to do. Something like “It won’t download” is too vague. Something like “It downloaded, but won’t install” is somewhat better.

  6. I don’t like it at all. Keep the normal interface. It’s not that we need new features, it’s just that people need tolearn how to use the ones we already have.

    I don’t know what the others are talking about, the reason you are lagging is because the roblox studio, shows a login on the roblox sitetest! The reason you are lagging is because your computer is wack! =/

  16. It won’t allow me to download because it says “(Name here) has not been commonly downloaded” And something like that.. So I clicked Delete.

  17. Well I have windows 7. There is a runtime error. And the Load menu is kinda, well old looking, the one for studios is more modern.

  21. When i try logging in it said my username and password doesn’t work! It works on the other roblox studio! Fix this up now and remove that thingy where you have to copy the thing

    • It’s great. To the users that say they can’t log in,just go click the “log on” button and log in from there. This is very useful for building and I hope those High Scapability Blocks will be possible to use soon w/ Edit Mode.

    • why would you play a downloadable game on a mac? macs are more about running things on browsers and looking cool. if you want to play all downloadable games you should get a pc.

  30. Ok, so I’m just now downloading it, and I can’t even do anything. It just keeps freezing up and the actual webpage is just a very good image of a blizzard.

  32. Could you maybe update this so that when you go in build mode while the studio is up, they won’t open it an another window so we can’t even use the studio?

    • It lags horribly after about 5 minutes. If it didn’t lag like that this would be amazing.

  44. Studio 2.0 is simply a downgrade of the original. The mouse sensitivity is off, its laggy, we cannot login, scripts barely work in them (global things don’t work at all), the interface is just messy where as it was easier before. The ONLY upgrade, is the objects tab. EVERYTHING ELSE-Downgrade. ROBLOX, I cannot believe that you wasted this much time on a downgrade and failed to see how bad it was!

  48. I do have to agree with some of the other guys: Keep It Simple Stupid. You are making it simple, but in the wrong way. We can’t build with detail yes everything seems to be useless except for a few buttons.

  49. I found everything nicely and I also thought that the interface was substantially improved and it was very simple, sleek, and elegant. It seemed more like a new program than a boxy old slow program. It was a bit slow, though it makes sense because I’m using a 2005 Dell Precision 390 (it even has a floppy disk drive!)

    Press view, and click properties. Then click view again and click Explorer :3

    By the way guys, The reason why you cannot see the toolbox and free models is because you need to have ROBLOX Studio.

    • Do you mean you have lost your Tree View? All the views can be brought back Go to View Menu.

  59. Ok this is really great, but how about making some color to the icons, it looks kinda boring without that many colors

  61. I like the old one better…. in this version I can only use Edit mode and Build mode doesn’t give you the resizing tools and toolbox with free models!

  62. ROBLOX should have just of removed all the ROBLOX Studio updates that have been added the past few months. The old Studio was simple, easy to use, and very fun to use at that. With all these updates I feel that I’m not aloud to build the way I want to with lots of detail, because after using the Stamper tool for about 5 minutes it gets VERY boring.

  63. I think I prefer Roblox Studio 1.0 i definately prefer the move tools over 2.0′s If you could make the newer stuff in Roblox Studio like the tools optional I would really like that.

  64. To make studio 2.0 better in my advice i would put some of the new things in 2.0 and add to 1.0. If not, just put all the property, toolbox and stuff together, otherwise, way to confusing! Slows down often. Maybe you can add like new bricks, tools. Add a single water brick. Umm, well that`s all i can think about for now.

  65. It confuses me. I would just make changes to 1.0. I don`t understand half of it. I know much more studio 1.0.

    I CANT LOG IN!!!

    (And no its not because I’m too new. besides I’m a veteran.)

  67. It won’t let me log on, and on version 1.0 it lets me log on, but when I build, not edit, the toolbar won’t show up.

  69. I forgot one more pro. The axis for some tools are symmetric(1), not brick(1.2) now.

  70. More Pros: The new insert>object thing. Better tools.

    More Cons: The color on properties is a totally different color than it says sometimes. Water functions aren’t on bricks.
