The public beta for ROBLOX Studio 2.0, the latest version of ROBLOX’s game-development application, is now available. You can download it here and give us your feedback on our Studio 2.0 forum. Please note that this beta is for Windows users only; ROBLOX Studio for Mac already uses our new framework and interface. Installing Studio 2.0 will not interfere with Studio 1.0, so you’ll be able to use both at the same time.

Your feedback is the most important part of this beta test. As you experiment with Studio 2.0, make specific, well documented notes that will help us identify areas that still need polish. The following points are a few relevant things to consider.

  • ROBLOX Studio 2.0What works well? What doesn’t?
  • Where do you notice performance issues?
  • Did you experience a crash? What caused it?
  • How is the user interface intuitive/unintuitive?
  • What works better than it did in ROBLOX 1.0? What do you think is worse?
  • How can we make Studio 2.0 better?

As you may remember from our announcement, Studio 2.0 promises a more consistent user experience across Mac and PC platforms, improved performance and ease of use, and a polished user interface. You can now see for yourself.

  3. This beta test needs to be worked on. I can’t seem to log in. Is this able to have your character in to build in studio mode or not. I like to build in studio mode with my character to test out the Gui then and there and to move easier. Anyway fix up the login the I’ll tell you the rest of what I think.

  5. There is no way to access your own models in build mode, ROBLOX needs to fix that.

  6. It doesnt work for me, it simply stops when it gets to please wait, loading, if it is any consalation then i also have windows 7

    • THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING TO ME! AND I HAVE WINDOWS 7! but everytime when the please wait thing go’s away, Nothing happens. This new studio sucks, I’m using the old one even if they fix up this “Studio 2.0″.

      • Same here. It loads the windo, but it stays white. And when I type Roblox.com on the URL bar, it will go. I tried to login, but it stay’s the same and nothing works. I will stick to the old version.

  14. Works fine with me. Long complaint i have is. Why can’t i use My Models,Decals and Sets?

I know its only in beta but it SUCKS! i am enraged at ROBLOX right now for this. one: their are only free models and free decals. how do i aacess my models!!!!.Two: there are many things you cannot do like, edit meshes and that stuff. there are other things i dont like but those i dont like the most please dont do this to us ROBLOX!

  16. My only complaints about Studio 2.0 right now are that it’s pretty slow and I don’t have access to my models and decals. Other than that, 2 thumbs up!

    also the mouse sensitivities waaay too low, and needs the side movements of the toolbox properties and such.

Just tried it out now… I don’t like the new cursor on the brick and off the brick… make it the normal ROBLOX cursor again… so far, that’s my only real complaint, the rest is just getting used to. Overall, I like the old version more, but it may change only had time to see it for a minute. Glad you guys are working on the water physics, though, that’s soo much fun to play with and I love how different materials sink and float!

  27. Why can’t I use studio mode on build mode? If we, the “ROBLOXian,” are going to build, then we don’t need the new crappy tools. I want the old ROBLOX back.

    • I agree with tyrannosaurusWrecks. Since we can’t use studio while we are in build mode, it makes it more inconvient since you have to keep jumping from studio to build mode and waiting for the level to finish loading. also you have to wait for the save. I noticed this in 1.0 also, plz try to fix this soon.

      • Actually you can use studio with your character still, Just go to edit mode on studio and go to tools, then test, then play solo and there ya go.

    • Yeah, I want to build in Studio Mode, but it won’t let me. So I try to login to beta to see if I can do that from there, but it won’t let me. Stays the same when I click Login. ROBLOX needs to fix many things. Oh, and I have Windows Vista…

  28. I think the new Studio is really nice! The icons for the tools look more modern, but one thing I don’t like is how when you open up the toolbox, it’s now on the left side. It just seems inconvenient.

  32. I have a windows 7 computer and I have been waiting 2 hours for the last bar of the download to finish. Also it is making my computer laggy and extremely poor graphics on Google chrome while downloading!!!
    Also studio 1.0 has been deleted now so i can’t use it if this doesn’t work. i am not going to go on Roblox any more if this keeps happening.

  33. I really dislike the fact that you can not use the studio mode with build mode…

    • Agreed, You can’t c-frame or add other things, studio mode on edit mode is ok, but its difficult.

  34. I can’t download it, every time I try and run it I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Plugin error from it.

  35. Its crappy all it gives me is “Run Error” You views should undownload Roblox Studio 1.0 and then try. Thats what I’m going to do. And I will tell you how it goes.

  38. I think ROBLOX should make a Multiplayer Studio. I don’t know how it’d work, but that would be pretty cool.

  46. I do hope you can use your character, and not just studio. Building without my character then just doesn’t seem right, but I need studio as well.

    • Also, it crashed first time I attempted to use it, yes, I’m on Windows 7.

  57. Yeah i agree with daney you whould put in a cframe tool or sumin and chould make a select all or find part-so say you had a part called 1337 that u chouldnt find u select find and type it…..Also i think roblox is awsome and chould be made less laggier in some way

  59. I got my laptop (Windows 7) In 2011..Itisn’t bad..No lag..Nothing..But I tried to download ROBLOX Studio 2.0 and it said Runtime error…

  60. My suggestion its to put C-Frame tools to allow other some players to do some of their Project.

    In another way,some players of NBC getting annoyed by few of the suggestion that are way too awful.

    • Maybe it has something to do with the year your computer was released. Or maybe it was something that was downloaded, or even how much data was left.

  67. Whenever I log on, my account has all my old money and not my new hats, new money, new freinds, and game updates. Its like I wen’t back in time. Im even getting messeges that I got back then. It took me back to Halloween 2011, since theres Halloween hats in the catalog as the first thing.

    • Maybe part of your data was erased and sent you back in time due to the download.

  68. I think this new ROBLOX Studio is glitched i mean the new features look awesome but everytime i try to log in on the new version it says password is wrong and ive tryed everything ive changed it and stuff but it still says its wrong.

    • That’s because it’s the test site. You recently changed your password so use your previous password to log in to the test site.
