Build and Battle: A new breed of ROBLOX game
Build and Battle is a team-based shooter where the objective is to take out your opponent’s energy core. Sounds simple enough, right? ROBLOX’s Content team ran with the basic foundation, introducing randomly generated terrain, resource collection, base building and more. ROBLOX’s “mock Hackathon”
A couple Fridays back, we announced a Hackathon for ROBLOX Game Conference 2012 and a “dry run” at the ROBLOX HQ. Well, we did the dry run, and we have video evidence to prove it — and how fun the actual event will be.
Character models progress report
Our latest entry in the “Character Explorations” series shows the version-3.0 character models, all dressed up to create a variety of personalities. You’ve got Sarge, a comically deranged-looking soldier, and Dr. Smith, the evil genius, and Missy, and… Well, just check out the embedded video to see them in the virtual flesh.
Run Length Encoding
There are multiple reasons why ROBLOX’s terrain is efficient and scalable, one of which is Run Length Encoding. ROBLOX developer Daniel Ignatoff crunched some numbers for us, showing how Run Length Encoding and compression techniques drive down file sizes for terrain-based ROBLOX games. Roblox often gets compared to Minecraft, and while both have block-style graphics and offer players the opportunity to build in-game worlds, I think Roblox has a depth to it that Minecraft does not. Roblox is part computer science, part game design, part multiplayer-game, and part lemonade stand … Minecraft and Roblox actually seem to be headed in different directions, so I think the differences will be even more stark down the road. |

To be Honest, Roblox is trying to play it fair with NBC and BC players. At Roblox Headquarters in CA, There are designers there working and paying bills. $5 a month / $60 a year really helps out their budget and keeps you guys getting what you want. I used to have BC but when money got/still is tight, I had to give up a few things (BC being one of them). Having BC for 2 years ($120) really means alot to those that go to work so we can have fun. And what do they hear? Us complain. Honestly, If ROBLOX was anymore cheaper, they’d be broke. There are way more ways of getting Tickets and/or robux as a NBC’er than you think there are. Be Original, Get creative, Invest well. Don’t sit in the corner and expect to get rich instantly.
Sure. Bring out the 3.0 bodies. Just make them optional.

All I ever see is complaints. Guys, these people are working hard and spending lots of money for this game you and I play, and all you do is complaint. Who knows? Maybe 3.0 Bodies will be a bit better. Or NBC will get more stuff. Just tell them nicely, “I do not like the 3.0 bodies” or “I think NBC should get better stuff”. btw, you guys will get bored if it was changed to 2006.
I don’t understand why people complain. With the 2.0 bodies, they were optional and had to be bought with Robux in order to be obtained, not just thrown out like candy. Chances are, 3.0 will be the same way. Optional and bought.
You know ROBLOX, why don’t you postpone the updates and work with the exploiting problem right now? How important is it for one update or loosing hundreds of players hard made places and accounts (Possibly) to exploiting? I mean come on, the game is Exploiter paradice right now!
I personally think “non builders club” members should atleast get the 2.0 bodies. Bc, tbc,Obc gets extra stuff when they sign up, such as; bc, you get robux and a hat same thing as tbc, but a different colored hat, Obc you get gears and hats and robux. What do non bc members get? tickets so atleast make a “limited robloxian 2.0 body” about 1000 like you do other things strictly for NBC.

NBCers get almost NOTHING at all. Roblox once had a million users, now it’s less than half of that…
I agree. NBCers have no more free will anymore. And besides, ROBLOX is a Exploit paradise and all they are worrying about right now is new updates. Why not just postpone them and work on the exploiters?

Get on with the Universe update…
Most of the people here are complaining about the bodies, so I don’t think they’ll be talking about the universe update.
It will be a very interesting update, I look forward to it. Some other updates include bringing vehicles with you in teleports. (I believe I read this off another roundup) This would make clans, warfare, exploration, anything more playable.
I have been playing roblox ever since 2009 and I must say it has changed a lot from what it used to be. I cant play on Roblox anymore because the glitches in the system…but anyways the bodies are no to shabby, as long as their optional and offered to everyone that plays on here..there is no problem. Keep going guys!
I think (NBC) should get more and more active place join more groups and stuff and just raise it for (BC) (TBC) (OBC)!

Ok, what happened to the “Universe” idea, or the GetGroupRank style method? And when will the chosen suggestions be taken into account for updates? Seriously, stop worrying about new bodies and games, more people supported “Universes” than 3.0 bodies so work on that instead. Come on Roblox, work on more Lua updates and game updates, not 3.0 bodies. I am sick of the attention those bodies get by now.

I agree with the Universe, but maybe they ARE working on it. Start considering these facts. The ROBLOX HQ has different Departments. In-game, Site, Creation, Design, and Catalog departments, possibly more. Different departments work on different things, and all of the departments work at the SAME TIME, but on different things. Maybe the Universe project isn’t finished, and they ARE working on it. The same time the 3.0 body was being worked on, but wasn’t too hard, and is being released. I’m only a kid and don’t know anything about a game with an HQ, but I know these are right.
I was about to say the same thing, Roby. Just because everyone is focusing on complaining about the bodies, doesn’t mean they are working on one thing.
I mean, how many updates have gone passed, without really noticing them? Quite a bunch, enough to where some even I never noticed.
I’m sure the development team will work on the bodies, new features, etc. Their development team is quite large, so I don’t know why people should be worrying about ROBLOX not fixing exploits, and other updates.

ROBLOX has many people on their staff, they are working on fixing exploits, as they are making new updates.
That’s something called efficiency, instead of everyone in the ROBLOX Corporation working on one thing at once, they spread it out, and make different projects, so they’ll get done with things around the same times.
A few people just post without thinking saying extreme things like ROBLOX turning into LEGO, or KREO, well there are many key differences I will not go over.

I think they will make another but today. I noticed the site change right when I was on a hat with no outline then I went to next it had an outline and I went back and it had an outline.

Gahh…. I thought ROBLOX was the online building game. Build whatever you want! Not , build something realistic. Roblox has changed so much. I thought that staying in block form would allways stay.
You still can build whatever you want, all those old blocks, spheres, wedges, whatever are still there.
It’s your choice on whether or not you want to use the more realistic features or not.
I love the work you do for this game, but, I would like to know what you did, june14th’s update stopped my terrain maps from loading in an online game. They worked fine each month that the maps where put out. And they also work good in build mode and test. But when i go to play them from my game page they stop loading and freeze at the part count.

I liked the video, and then I saw it was promoting the bodies, and not just the destruction of the 3.0 figures with a giant sword.
The only thing the same about minecraft and roblox is the terrain. And they are not even that similar. Roblox is filled with gaming engineers and architects! I just don’t see a reason for the new morphs. -_-
The bodies arent that bad I don’t really mind the way they look it seems to improve the viuals and the graphics in ROBLOX. I think this will help ROBLOX to becomemore popular with every one.

Online dating increases when users encourage it in their items, whether it be a place, a clothing item, or a model, and those result in a ban.
The factors for online dating are yes, clothing items, but not necassarly bodies in general, it could be chat, the place they are in, etc.
