Group Clothing and Treasury: The Beginning of Groups as Companies

Office BuildingsCurrently, Builders Club members are able to create and sell their own clothing, including custom shirts and pants, on ROBLOX. Today, we’re giving groups the ability to do the same. That may sound simple, but with it come the possibilities of shared group money.

Group Clothing

Before we explore the details of group clothing, let’s go over some of the interface changes it entails. Group clothing is available on two pages. First, the Groups page now features a “Store” tab, which shows you the top three most recently updated group items by default.

You can also search for items created by groups in our Catalog by group name.

To create group clothing, go to your group’s page. Then, in the Controls pane, click the new “Create Items” button. You’ll have the option of creating a new shirt, t-shirt or pair of pants.

Group clothing allows group members to distinguish themselves from other groups–you can design matching uniforms for your group, and even make variations for different ranks. We think it’d be awesome to see two warring groups do battle in their respective uniforms. Anyone can buy group clothing, too, so you can financially support other groups by buying their items.

Group Treasury

The bigger part of this, however, is raising and spending money. You can raise money as a group to purchase ads and ranks. No one user is responsible for forking over cash; it’s a team effort. All raised money goes directly to the group, regardless of which member raised it, and Treasury it can only go toward purchases for the group. You’ll have to learn to balance your budget and pool resources to sustain purchases from within your group.

In terms of spending, the group owner will be able to select which members can make purchases on behalf of the group. In order to do this, go to your group’s page and hit “Group Admin” in the Controls pane. Remember, this will only work if you’re the group owner or have reached the necessary rank.

Group treasuries should lead to some very interesting activity on ROBLOX, while encouraging teamwork and communication. We recognize that being able to buy ads and ranks is only a start, and we’re planning on expanding the types of things groups can purchase in the future. Do you have ideas? Let us know.

  1. I wish somebody would be nice enough to buy me OBC. :(

    I’ve always wanted to own a group and to be able to make ads and more than one place.

  2. This is a nice feature, all though ROBLOX should add the ability of the group owner to trade currency some of the Robux into Tix and Tix into Robux.

  3. they should add the ability to put up more pictures and videos on groups in the same way they are put up on games, and add links or tabs to group home pages, similar to those of players, but advertizing the groups places and recent news, as well as unique background textures and layout.

  5. After this, we’ll be able to buy land for our groups… or fight over it. If we choose to buy it, no doubt the money will come from the funds. Great idea ROBLOX, carry on! :)

    • Roblox, should make a feature so you can make the shirt only sell the certain ranks. Therefore if you wanted to make ranked shirts, you couldn’t have people buying a higher rank shirt.

    • Here’s a great idea! Make it more like a bank so you can store and take money out. This will let people save up robux so people like me who can’t keep a hold of there robux to save there life can deposit and take out robux/tickets

  17. LOVE THIS! :D now, you don’t have to go through pages of clothes from the catalog to find a group uniform! And it’ll be easier to make ranks for my group when the treasury fills up :D

  19. Terrible idea. Think of all the people who would now have to delete and republish the official uniforms for clans.

    • Who cares now at least you don’t have to go through 100 catalog pages just to find your groups uniform.

  24. Great feature, I love it, but can you also make a way that you can have a certain percentage of your place visits tix go to the group.

    That would be the next upgrade of this epic feature.

  25. It’s alright, But I think the group owner should be able to take money out and put money in of the treasury. :\

    • yeah but then the owner might get greedy, and the fact is the owner may not be the only one publishing the items… so that would just be stealing someone’s donation for the for their own personal gain… which I’m assuming a lot of people would actually do… Unless they added types of groups for instance Market Groups and War Groups or whatever so they have seperate benefits and different limits then… yeah in some cases it MIGHT be alright… MIGHT

  26. This is one of Roblox’s good upgrades, alot of roblox’s other kind of uprades for example mega places slowed down many other games when mega games were popular to have. BC games also discriminated people and promoted BC WAY too much.

  27. I think a thing that would be cool to add to things groups could buy would be hats. Many people make their own hats in my group for the group to use. They use hat giviers to wear them in game. What if people could purches group hats to sell to the group? I am not saying this would be cheap to do for the group, but it would be nice to wear the hat not just in the group places with them. Btw sorry didn’t see the normal post thing.

  29. You could make it so that groups can buy hats, like from the catalog for the rest of the group to buy individually for a discounted price. Like the hat costs 1000 R$ and the group buys it for 5000 R$ then anyone in the group can buy the hat for 200 R$.

  34. This still doesn’t function well will clothing design groups. I have been waiting for this update for ages and it is still not in the works for a Fashion Line. People will not want to upload clothes that they will quite simply not get any money for. Maybe for War Groups and such, that is a great feature – but for fashion groups, it almost limits the functionality of them. It’s too bad. I would rather have the people in my group earn their own individual profits for their hard work.

    • and the group treasury is awesome as well! Use it to buy ads/adspace and a couple other things.

  38. I feel that users should be able to donate tix or robux to the group funds for the group to use to create the group ads and ranks.

  43. Sweet! I just got a shirt up, and I’m already looking for someone to advertise. This is pretty good ROBLOX, keep it up. When are we going to see the new group battles system? I had this idea where there’s one giant world. The two opposing groups have a certain amount of territory on it. They could capture territories that way. Anyone agree?

    • Man on the last roblox post about what they hope to do for groups they had the exact same idea. They posted it months ago, and your idea isn’t something new or great. Its possible they will do this through, or something similar. At the moment however roblox can’t support enough parts to do something as huge as your imagining.

      Personally, I think it’s great like this. It’ll eliminate quite a bit of scamming. It’s also much more convenient. Nice job, ROBLOX.

      • Plus, group places should allow ROBLOX STUDIO building, Stamper wouldn’t go well with superclans or big clans

  44. these are the kind of updates people really want. This looks like a good idea. The only thing I hope is that once you set the clothes for sale they will stay on sale for the group even if the owner lost his Builders Club membership. I can’t tell you how many groups have issues with uniforms because they are unable to sell it after their builders club expired.

  48. Maybe there should be an option for revenue from a game to go straight into the group treasury?

    This idea isn’t too hard to think of. Just because someone had the idea to make a trading system, doesn’t mean if it’s made they should get a ton of credit for it.

    Or maybe they DID use your idea. Getting an idea you though of put into a popular game is good enough. You don’t need your name in the News.

  55. I think groups should be able to create personal server places on behalf of the group, like this clothing thing that was just added. That way, as groups make more money off of clothing sales, they can expand their empires by creating more and more HQs/raiding grounds/building places.

  57. Wow, this is an amazing feature except; most ‘company’ groups don’t make shirts… We make models. If somehow we could be able to sell models, this feature would be one of the most widely-used features in ROBLOX, probably even more used than the trading system.
