Are you an code monkey? You could be having as much fun as this guy, all summer long, with a game dev internship at ROBLOX HQ in Redwood City, CA. You’ll get a lot of great experience working at a small game studio. Your work will be shipped to thousands of players every couple of weeks. We’ll even pay you. There will be cake.

Requirements

• You are a college sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate
• You can commute to our offices in Redwood City California
• You have technical skills: either you’re an intermediate-level C++ coder or you’re awesome with C# and .Net/Flash/AJAX/web client technologies
• You’re qualified to work in the US
• You love games

Bonuses

• You have an online portfolio of relevant previous work/research/projects
• You have domain specific knowledge of something useful to game development. For example: graphics, networking, flashy web interfaces, writing importer/exporters, 3d modeling, audio programming, physics simulation, etc.
• You have artistic talent

The party is in full swing for Spring! You can check out all the fun stuff going on over at the event site Gallery. There is a lot of great stuff there! All the users who entered will receive the Party Hat.

The voting is closed at the event site and we are tallying the vote for People’s Choice. The top entries of each category will receive a special hat. The categories are Rides, Party Locations, Party Vehicles, Party Outfits, Block Party in the Press.

These are just a few of the things we noticed at the Spring Block Party. Each of these users will receive 200 Robux!

Entries

bobshadow Category: Party Outfit Bobshadow came to the real world for the Spring Block Party. We talked about how everything in Roblox was. He said it was great.The bobshadow we made was made out of cardboard boxes, black spray paint, and an astronaut helmet we found in our closet. Don’t get me started on how much TAPE it took.

ICE128 Category: Ride This is the Solar Wheel. It is a huge Ferris wheel that can hold up to 60 passengers, with pretty spring flowers surrounding it. The red carts can go upside down on the wheel. I used ROBLOX to make it, and I utilized certain scripts and commands to weld and rotate the carts and bricks of the wheel. This is a neat ride for the Spring Block Party.

bigbrainkid Category: Party Vehicle

hoshpup Category: Party Location This is a party boat for partying on. It has lots of room to dance and celebrate. It has lots of fun things to do like. A water slide, disco floor with lots of lights and music, a snack and drinks bar. There is also a camera man recording the celebration event.

Hatguy Category: Party Vehicle This is a plane I call "the Torpedo",it’s sleek, fast, and not quite operational at the moment. I made this after a plane I made out of LEGOS once. I guess this is a party vehicle.

justgoaway1 Category: Party Location This is my block party hill! It has rides, hills, banners, and even a cannon, all made by me! I credit the dance and regular buddies to miked, though. I edited the dance buddies.

AxelFlames Category: Party Vehicle AxelFlames here, what you are seeing here is a long flexible celebration container truck that travels slow, because of the weight on the truck and its platforming, ROBLOXians can play in it. On how I made it is that its made out of K’Nex, with different kinds of K’Nex sticks and platforms that connect each of the little parts of another K’Nex.

supersmashjim Category: Party Location This is me and my friends at the beach. My friends in the picture are linksshade and Gunman123,and of course me! It’s supposed to take place in Florida!!!

Zethin Category: Party Vehicle Ride to the ROBLOX party in style with the Roblox party plane! I made this for the contest, and it is in the category of vehicles.

waffleboy Category: Party Location It’s time for the Spring Block Party!! We MUST invite everyone!! Even peeps from games we don’t know about!

Anaminus Category: Ride Ferris Wheel. The perfect ride to be on this spring!

Fun Party Costumes!  captainvolt, hichao, funny980, zeldafan334, Hatakare, PaintBoy, mjsd12, Xena218        Xena218’s place. It is set in a garden with flowers, giant caterpillar and bees.

supermario444 Category: Party Location This cool night hangout has a Jacuzzi, a T.V playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl with 3 chairs, a disco floor with a DJ, and a table where cake is served.

xLEGOx Category: Party Location When the partying gets tough, partiers get going… Or they bring out their snazzy new Party-Bot!

Intile Category: Party Location This is a house near a small lake, ideal for partying fun! In the water, you can go sailing, swimming, fishing- many different things! Then, when you’re done, you can rest up in you’re house as the sun sets, with a nice ROBLOX Brand Lemonade. Don’t forget to wear ROBLOX Brand Sunsreen and a ROBLOX Visor!

Being a real clothes horse myself, I recognize the hitherto unmentionable tragedy that is the ROBLOXian fashion scene. It’s dismal. I say to you now ROBLOXia, no more! ROBLOX brings you shiny new shirts and pants!

But that’s not all! Look at this long list of improvements we’ve made to ROBLOX in the past two weeks…

New Stuff

• Full-body shirts and pants
• New character creation page
• Favorites for places, models, clothing
• New lighting model & specular highlights on meshes
• Enhanced moderation system
• New Place page allows commentary
• ROBLOX news feed on front page
• More robust installer

Shirts and Pants. Pants Pants Pants.

Anyone can purchase new shirts and pants in the ROBLOX Catalog. However, creating and selling these exciting new products is an exclusive Builders Club privilege (way back we promised that there would be more great Builders Club features and we’re delivering!) We think our more artistic users are going to be able to score a lot of scratch by selling these things.

There’s a more complete guide in the Wiki that shows how to make pants and shirts. The following is a crash course…

First go to your character customization page. You’ll notice that you now have a wardrobe that shows all of your clothes by type. Click the type of item you would like to create (Shirts or Pants). Then click "Create".

Alright. Now you’ll see a screen that looks like this:

First you need to download the shirt template to your computer. This is a picture that you draw on to create you own shirt. I personally use a very old version of Paint Shop Pro to create my shirts. You can use whichever image editing program you like. Paint.NET is a decent free one.

Once you’ve painted your shirt, click the "Browse" button to select your shirt file and click "Create Shirt". The shirt will show up in your wardrobe. Congrats! You’ve made your first new shirt!

More on that Shirt Template thing…

You’ll notice that the Shirt Template file you download looks crazy and has lots of pretty colors. Fear not — You are about to become a 3D graphics artist!

The basic idea here is that the shirt template is "folded" up and wrapped around your character, like origami. If you were to print out the template below, you could cut out all the colored rectangles, tape them together, and create a real-life 3D shirt. That’s what ROBLOX does for you - once you upload your shirt template image.

If you’re still confused, check out the more detailed explanation of the shirt template in the Wiki. Once you’ve tried making a couple, you’ll probably get the hang of it.

Old Shirts

Old shirts are now called "T-Shirts". You can still wear them. You can even wear a T-Shirt and a Shirt at the same time! At the moment T-Shirts are draw on top of regular shirts - this doesn’t make sense and will probably change in a future release.

Favorites

Another sweet feature we snuck in this release is Favorites. A Favorite is a way to bookmark places (and things) that you like so that you can easily find them in the future.

Never again hunt for that awesome level you played once a year ago but which now everyone has forgotten. No more trying to remember who made it or what it was called. Just favorite stuff you like as you find it. They will appear in the Favorites section of your profile page.

You can also delete favorites so that your list of bookmarks doesn’t get cluttered. Pretty cool. We are hoping that this feature will help promote levels that everyone knows are fun, but that don’t get played anymore because they can’t get to the top of the Most Popular Now page. We also think its fun to browse our friend’s pages and see what their favorite ROBLOX games are. So fav+ a few things and show off your good taste!

Conclusion

In conclusion, ROBLOX has just gotten 37% more awesome. Enjoy!

Ganondude Category: Party Location The Spring Blox party is already underway and everybody’s invited! So grab your bathing trunks and come on down! Don’t forget to bring a drink, and lots of sunscreen!

ehwhat Category: Ride A little short coaster ride with a SPLASH effect added, also can you see any familiar faces?

TylerMcBride Category: Ride The magnificent yet odd Flufferfloatum Flower ascends to the sky in a beautiful oval pattern. It is truly a phenomenon of Robloxian springtime… They are rideable, but although they are elegant and calm, Robloxians look pretty goofy trying to ride them.

xanth Category: Ride, Party Vehicle Dragon Parasailing! The few adventurers who are brave enough to attempt this fearsome flight through the air, have called it the ride of their life. Just don’t get too close to its head!

Mario789 Category: Party Vehicle This picture shows a van with the Spring Block Party logo. This Vehicle works with guggi’s car tool. On the opposite side of the van is just 1 logo of the Spring Block Party.

Koopa Category: Party Location Mwhaha! While staying here at the beach i would recommend that you just watch out for the occasional Pirates, and Ninjas that pass by. You wouldn’t want to get caught up in the middle of battle now would you. Besides that it is "a great little beach, tall palm trees, warm water, high quality sand, plenty of rare sea shells…" things like that… and if you happen to be doing a research paper on the conflicts between pirates and ninjas this place would be perfect.
