Be Our Guest; Buy Our ROBUX

We’ve got two big features to announce in this release: guest mode and the ability to purchase ROBUX!

Guest Mode

Some people want to try out ROBLOX to see if it’s any good before they take the time to make an account. A lot of game websites force you to create an account before you can even play their games to see if they are worth your time.

GogoGuestmode

We think anyone who gets in-game and plays ROBLOX for 10 minutes is probably going to want to create a full account (especially since it is free), in order to get the benefits of membership, such as having your own place, collecting the daily login bonus, and being able to customize the look of their ROBLOXian.

GuestMode

Guest mode players appear in-game with the name "Guest ####". They’re just like normal users, except they can only use Super Safe chat and their stats don’t get logged from game to game. We don’t log stats because Guest users don’t have a "My ROBLOX" page to display them on…

Buy ROBUX

We’ve heard stories of people buying Builders Club on four accounts, just so they can get more ROBUX. We’re making things easier now for those people by allowing players to purchase ROBUX directly from the ROBLOX Central Bank.

RCB

You do not need to be in Builders Club to buy ROBUX. However, Builders Club members get advantages when buying ROBUX: they have the option of buying smaller amounts, and they get a better rate.

Buying Builders Club is still a great way to get ROBUX, through the 15 R$ daily allowance that BC members receive (along with other benefits). But now people who want their cash right away have another choice.

Inflation

8 out of 10 economists we surveyed expect that the ROBUK will rise strongly against the dollar in the near term, making it an excellent inflation hedge in these troubled financial times!

Some Awesome School Project Entries

We’ve received a ton of awesome entries to the School Project contest. The last day to enter is Wednesday Oct 1 at midnight Pacific time. Read how to enter here.

It looks like our users are finding a lot of different ways to mix ROBLOX and learning. That’s great! We’d like to show off some of the entries and encourage people to keep sending in great stuff like this.

Physics

I had to build a Rube Goldberg. Using ROBLOX really took away the material limitation factor. I used ROBLOX’ immense open-source to mimic what my group had to do: Pull a light switch. A little night to day script helped make it look very real. Using ROBLOX’ physics helped make the Rube Goldberg look like it was real, and using Lua gave any mis-haps a nice little patch. It helped give my group an A. -briguy9876

Programming

ROBLOX helped me with this presentation because it showed the I could give a 3D presentation without using real life things. First, I had some different functions of Lua, and described them to the class. Next, I used a more complex script to demonstrate how Lua makes a ROBLOX fountain work. After that, I asked Pyro if he would let me film his suits, he said yes. So then I showed the class how Lua could be used to create very complex things without using up memory space. That?s how ROBLOX helped me in class this time, I?m sure it will help me again.

My mom was very excited to see I was doing Lua programming, as it is something she didn’t learn until about a week ago. My teacher was happy with the presentation and I got a 100% on it. -Antartikid

Meteorology

I used ROBLOX to demonstrate the water cycle. This helped me a lot because I wanted to do something special to wow my class, and it sure did! We were on the last chapter of the year when we were asked to do a project on the water cycle. We were allowed to do anything as long as it demonstrated the water cycle. Then I discovered ROBLOX. It was by far THE BEST GAME EVER! Then I thought to myself, “What if I used this for my project?” -techno802

Biology

Assignment: Make a model of the urinary system, and describe functions.

ROBLOX helped me a lot on this project because it was easy to construct and it was an easier alternative rather than using a big expensive 3d modeling program. I wasn’t really good with clay, so I requested permission from my teacher to make a video of a ROBLOX model. She agreed and allowed me to show it to the class with my partner. I enjoy the easy ROBLOX interface, as well as the fast upload times. ROBLOX was a huge help, and I am thankful it even exists. -maxxz

Direct quote from teacher- “Awesome! The creativity in this movie really shined through!”

Architecture

My project was to demonstrate how structural differences in bridges alters their stability. I constructed several bridges and demonstrated how they withstand weight. For example, I used body velocity/rotation to show how a bridge can withstand an Earthquake.

I just have to say that ROBLOX is fantastic. As a game, and as a learning tool. It’s because of ROBLOX that I got an “A+” on my project and am now really quite popular in my class. I will always use ROBLOX! -Derthmonuter

My Laboratory

Art

For my ASE Art class I was required for my final project to make some form of three dimensional art. I decided to make a piece of abstract art for my project, but I had no idea what exactly it should look like. Four days into the project week long project I had come up with nothing. So I decided to take a break from the little work I had done and play in ROBLOX studio. After fiddling around on ROBLOX for a while, I realized that I could use my favorite game to do my homework. After a few failed attempts, I came up with the model shown above. I immediately set out and made a scaled down version of the model after I finished.

Had it not been for ROBLOX I never would have been able to come up with a passable figure-let alone the masterpiece I made- in time for the project’s due date on the second to last day of school. -Samacado

Well that’s all we have for right now. We are still sorting through all the email entries. All the users mention in this blog will receive the prizes by Oct 7. I know it’s a long wait but please be patient.

We’re curious to know how ROBLOX is helping students with school and learning. ROBLOXians are very clever and creative! We know several educators and students who are using ROBLOX for projects at school - we want to reward all the educational users of ROBLOX with prizes!

4. 100 words description explaining how ROBLOX helped you with this project.

Bonus: Include any comments your teacher or parent said about the project.

The contest ends Wednesday Oct 1 at midnight Pacific time. Winners will be announced within 1 week after end.

All valid entries will receive a secret runner-up prize.

Small print: The entry needs to be impressive and well put together. ROBLOX must have been used somehow to finish the project and get a good result from your teacher. Home-school entries are allowed. Team entries are only allowed if your team all go to the same school and are in the same class/subject.

I can’t wait to see what you all have been up to. Start sending in those creative school projects!

There seems to be some confusion in the comments. You don’t have to play ROBLOX at school for this. You can play at home but use ROBLOX for a school project somehow. Not everyone will be able to do this contest. It is, in fact, not fair.

Privacy statement: All real names, school names, pictures of people and locations will be edited out of content published on ROBLOX. Get your parent’s permission before entering this contest.

Playing ROBLOX at School

There are a lot of users who play ROBLOX at school. We think it’s great! It’s supported and encouraged by many teachers and computer lab managers.

We’d like to take a moment to talk about playing ROBLOX at computer labs. Do you remember the password scammer?

The scammer returns.

What he would do at school is watch you log in and memorize your password. Or, more likely, just get on the computer after you. If you didn’t log out then your account is wide open for someone to make changes. We’re not trying to be scary. We just want to make sure no one takes your hard earned ROBLOX Stuff.

Here’s what you can do:

1. MOST IMPORTANT! Always log out when you leave the computer. Even if it’s just to go to the bathroom or take a break.

2. Don’t use your ROBLOX password for anything at school, like even for your school email or school accounts.

3. Make sure no one is watching your hands when you type in your password.

4. Don’t tell anyone your password even to get help or Builder’s Club.

See on this image how to log out of ROBLOX.logout

Keeping your account safe at school is a great way to keep having fun with ROBLOX!
