Good day to you gentle peoples of ROBLOX! We have a plethora of cool hats on ROBLOX to rest upon your fine heads. Anyone can be a knight, prince, jester, or warrior queen!

With our new Slate surface it’s easy and fun to make all kinds of castles, fortresses, caves and even grass and lava. I’ve seen some amazing stuff already. Dress your ROBLOXian accordingly to fit in.

This is a showcase of the classic medieval and fantasy hats of ROBLOX.

Bloxby Polls are quick little fun polls that will sneak into the News and have a max number of responses before they close. So if you want to vote keep an eye on the News so you get it in time! Tell us what kind of place you wish there were more of in ROBLOX, and that people would build more!

We’d like to give some recognition to some of the cool things the ROBLOX community are creating. You all keep making such wonderful things and it’s time there was more notice.

The ROBLOX community celebrated Earth Day this year by making some cool outfits. We like that! So here are ten Earth Day outfits that we especially liked, and the community agreed by buying them and marking them as favorites!

Ten Things We Like About You Small Print – This is not a contest. The players mentioned are getting recognition, no prize or currency. The items were picked by the ROBLOX Staff for fitting the theme. And because they liked them.

Today’s release is for the people who make Robloxia great. I’m talking about the builders! This one is for you guys.

New Stuff For Builders!

Players on the test server yesterday got a sneak peak at the new stuff renderman and madrak have been working on.

Trusses

Trusses are a new type of brick. They look industrial and cool. Trusses are always long and skinny – you can only use them to make 2×2 beams. In the future, we will probably make trusses climbable by Roblox characters and make them less dense than normal bricks.

Slate

Slate is a new material, much like wood. You can use different colors of slate to create some interesting effects. Grey and black slate looks like, well, slate. Green slate gives a decent grass texture. Red slate could be used as lava. Blue slate might make a good ocean floor. You can even make rusty metal-looking trusses out of brown slate.

Universal Connectors

Universal connectors are a new surface type. They snap together with either bumps or holes. They’re used as the default Truss surface. I’ve also found that they can be used to create a nice “tiled floor” texture and look good when used in-doors.

New Toolbox Items

The “Brick” and “Baseplate” sections of the Toolbox have been updated to include these new shapes and materials. Hopefully it is more useful than to builders than in the past.

Bonus

Once you’ve loaded your place up with all these sweet new materials, you’ll find it runs better in multiplayer due to improvements we made in the networking code!

Announcing the ROBLOX Fansite Kit! Hooray!

A fansite kit is a file that game companies put out that contains fact sheets, images, logos, and usually some legal documents to explain how to use the kit. Then the fans of the game (that’s you!) use the kit to make their own fan sites! It’s cool. There are already some really awesome ROBLOX fansites out there!

The important elements of a ROBLOX Fansite are these:
0. It is 100% about ROBLOX!
1. There is a link back to www.roblox.com
2. It is free to use.
3. There is no objectionable content on the fansite.

That’s really all it takes. Once those things are in place you can make as much out of your ROBLOX fansite as you like by adding forums, videos, podcasts, and pretty much anything!

You can download the ROBLOX Fansite Kit and check it out. It’s a pretty big file. You will have to download the file to your computer and then Open it to see what’s inside. Make sure that’s Ok with your parents.

Once you have the kit you’ll need a place to build your fansite. Keep in mind that some blog and hosting sites won’t let you create if you’re under 13 years old. Don’t lie about it! Get your parent’s permission before making a website. Here are some suggestions of places to try…
