Confirmed: ROBLOX Game Conference 2012 Event Schedule

ROBLOX Game Conference 2012 runs from 10 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m – six-and-a-half hours. Between the main stage, user feedback sessions and Hackathon, we have roughly 15 hours of scheduled content to offer. Unless you possess the ability to be in two places at the same time, you’re going to need to prioritize.

To help you plan, we’re announcing a detailed agenda of events. Please note that this schedule may change slightly, so keep an eye on the RGC 2012 page for updates.

We strongly recommend you buy tickets online so you don’t waste any of your valuable time standing in line the day of the event. Plus, if you buy your ticket online by tomorrow, July 1st, you’ll receive a virtual sword.

We have a lot of content planned for ROBLOX Game Conference 2012, but there’s only so much time for you to experience as much of it as you can. That said, we strongly recommend you buy tickets online so you don’t waste any of your valuable time standing in line at the ticket counter. Plus, if you buy your ticket online by June 29, you’ll receive extra virtual gear.

The event will offer a variety of speakers, including CEO and Founder David Baszucki and Creative Director John Shedletsky, interactive feedback sessions, a ROBLOX computer lab, and a Hackathon, where attendees can put their programming and building skills to the test to win prizes. ROBLOX Preps for RGC 2012 with Mock Hackathon

Last week, we announced that ROBLOX Game Conference 2012 will feature an all-day Hackathon, where attendees can use their scripting and logic skills to come up with quick solutions to ROBLOX puzzles. We put the idea to practice on Friday afternoon, gathering eight ROBLOX developers for our own mock Hackathon. The winning developers, known on ROBLOX as “QuantumSama” and “HotThoth“, didn’t receive tangible prizes — actual RGC participants will — but a brief Friday evening of bragging rights.

The mock Hackathon gave us a chance to test several challenges, a timer and leaderboard system, and helped us see some ways we can make this event fun for ROBLOX users of many tiers. Watch this video for an inside look at our dry run on Friday, June 8th.

ROBLOX Hosting a Hackathon at Game Conference 2012

Do you consider yourself an elite ROBLOX game designer? Do your friends secretly marvel at your architectural competence and scripting prowess? Can you produce under the pressure of limited time? If so, we invite you to bring your laptop to ROBLOX Game Conference 2012 and join us for a continuous, all-day Hackathon.

The ROBLOX Game Conference 2012 Hackathon will let attendees take a break from the festivities and enjoy a session of ROBLOX creation. Every 20 or so minutes, a ROBLOX developer will unveil a new puzzle, challenging users to complete it in a given period of time.

Exciting news: We’ve reduced ROBLOX Game Conference ticket prices to $10 each!

Why are we doing this? Don’t we have any business sense? Aren’t we going to lose money on each and every ticket sold? The answers are: 1) I’ll tell you, 2) I think we do, and 3) absolutely!

This past weekend, many ROBLOX employees got to explore all the wonders of this year’s Maker Faire in San Mateo, Calif. We talked with ROBLOX players at our booth. We grooved to arc-lightning renditions of Sandstorm. We saw entire families dress up in giant homemade cardboard robot suits and duke it out. We noticed that the Maker Faire offered family discounts. We stared into the fiery gaping maw of a two-story dinosaur-monster composed of rusty iron and twisted car tires. In a word, we were inspired. Inspired to open up the ROBLOX Game Conference to the widest possible audience. That meant dropping the price down to ten bucks.

As the 2012 ROBLOX Game Conference comes closer, we have been nailing down the agenda and details for the event. This year, we are hosting the second annual RGC at the Santa Clara Convention Center on Saturday, July 14, 2012. Be sure to purchase your tickets before our first registration date of May 14^th. If you purchase your tickets before this date, you will also receive a complimentary ROBLOX Game Conference T-shirt, water bottle, virtual visor and virtual gear.
