We made some big announcements this week, but ROBLOX Studio 2.0 was the one that resonated with readers the most. We’re excited to release it for its polished interface, perhaps more so for the framework on which it’s built. Keep an eye on our blog and Twitter account for more information about participating in a beta test.

The Maker Faire experience, from ROBLOX’s eyes

Many members of the ROBLOX team — including yours truly — spent some of last weekend at the Maker Faire Bay Area 2012. We snapped photos, talked with ROBLOX users and saw some amazing work, some of which we documented for the blog.

When we announced that RGC 2012 tickets dropped to $10, the incoming traffic brought down our blog for a short while. We were inspired by the Maker Faire and its diversity of attendees, and felt that dropping the price would help us create a similar atmosphere.

Responding to your feedback

John Shedletsky has responded to even more requests from our April blog survey, Your ROBLOX Top-Three List. Topics addressed include camera properties, aerodynamics, new terrain, an “animation studio” and more.


Trading system update

While we offered a sneak peek of our upcoming trading system to everyone last Friday, we reserved testing the system for some of our resourceful and endlessly connected Twitter followers. After roughly three days of testing, we had about 4,000 users create test accounts, and they had traded 2,384 items across 633 completed transactions.

The rest of the trades – all 8,600 of them – were still open, expired or declined. Users had actually tallied 6,475 declines; either you’re all very savvy business people who refuse to be taken for a ride, or you just love saying “no.”

The most traded item, at 622, was Dominus Empyreus, a limited, collectible hat. The next closest item was the Purple Sparkletime Fedora, which was traded 460 times. Of course, when you factor in the declined trades, only 48 and 47 trades, respectively, were accepted.
