May 30, 2013

by Andrew Haak

CountdownAttention, directors and designers of ROBLOXia: we have arrived at the final weekend for submitting entries to the ROBLOX International Film Festival and the BLOXcon Poster Contest! Both contests close on Monday, June 3rd at 11:59 p.m. PT – if you’re planning to enter, now is the time to get creating. Polish what you’ve already started, or set aside some time to start something from scratch. It’s not too late.

ROBLOX International Film Festival

The Film Festival has been open to submissions for just under a month. While we’re seeking films within five categories, we have still received very few speed-building showcases and city-themed films. If you want to get noticed, go for one of those categories.

  • Speed-building showcase: capture your screen as you build a great vehicle (or whatever your specialty is), then speed up the footage to compress it into 60 or so seconds. Use cuts and editing to show the key parts of the building process.
  • City-themed films: create a short film that captures the feeling of life in Chicago, London or New York City within ROBLOX.

ROBLOX International Film Fest 2013We need a larger selection of films in these categories in order to select winners! Here are all the resources you’ll need to get started with your Film Fest entry:

As you may know, winners will receive a virtual BLOXY Award and have their film screened in front of a live BLOXcon audience, among other benefits.

Poster Contest

Poster Contest GraphicThe Poster Contest has been open since last Friday, and we’ve seen a number of nice entries. However, the door is by no means closed to new competition. If you fancy yourself a graphic designer, we’d love to have you enter the contest, too. Look back at our original announcement of this contest to find a bunch of guidelines and resources. Using them will increase your chances of winning by roughly 500 percent.

Winners will receive a printed and signed copy of their poster and an exclusive virtual item.
