Here at ROBLOX our dream is to allow digital creators and explorers to play, learn, and socialize with their friends across any and all devices. As new avenues of technology open up to the world, new ways to play and make amazing interactive experiences do too. So we’re thrilled to announce that ROBLOX has officially taken the next step into the world of virtual reality with our launch on Oculus Rift.

VR tech is an exciting new frontier for games and other forms of interactive media. It changes how we think about game design, and allows ROBLOX experiences to soar to new heights of immersion. Our CEO David “Builderman” Baszucki likes to say it makes ROBLOX feel like a massive interactive amusement park.

The experience of ROBLOX on Oculus Rift is similar to other ROBLOX platforms. It is fully cross-platform, meaning that if you’re on Oculus Rift, your friend is on PC, and another friend is on mobile, you can all jump into the same game server. No other games on Oculus Rift are or any VR tech offer that level of connectivity.

Many games already lend themselves well to the device. Showcases look incredible, and any game with a first person perspective feels incredibly immersive. We’re really excited to see what new experiences developers create specifically for VR.

Oculus Rift is just the first step in our plans to bring ROBLOX to VR. We’re working on ROBLOX for numerous other VR platforms, so if there’s one in particular you’re most excited about or planning to buy, let us know in the comments.

We hope you get a chance to try out ROBLOX on Oculus Rift soon, and stay tuned for news about ROBLOX expanding to other VR and gaming platforms.
