ROBLOX has had its own virtual economy since 2007 and, last year, we introduced two new features–Game Passes and Affiliate Gear Sales–that started to close the gap between the economy and building. We promised then that we’d eventually complete the circle and implement the ability for builders to sell items in-game. Today, after a lengthy public test in ROBLOX Battle, we’ve successfully enabled in-game transactions across all games in ROBLOX.Continue reading
About a week ago, we loosened up the ownership restrictions on limited items to allow users to possess multiple copies of the same item. One of the effects of this change is it is now much much easier to make trades with other players. In the past, if a player wanted to send me a trade, he would have to have items I didn’t already own. For a lot of our power users, this can be really difficult!
Since implementing this feature, I’ve personally seen my number of incoming trade offers triple. A quick look at the database confirms that there are now roughly 55% more trade offers flowing through our system. It’s been about eight months since we published our last guide to the Trading System. What better way to usher in the trading renaissance than to provide some tips and tricks for would-be traders?Continue reading
Starting today, you can purchase and trade multiple copies of the same limited item. We’ve made this change to simplify our economy while simultaneously expanding it–in particular, it offers you much more flexibility when trading within the ROBLOX economy. Before we go into any more detail, keep this in mind: this doesn’t mean you can purchase multiple limited items from us, but you can purchase and trade multiple copies of the same item from other users.Continue reading
In January, we took an extensive look at the games and places that were the most financially successful on ROBLOX. Whether it’s through adding gear to a game, taking advantage of Game Passes or just racking up series visits, there are a lot of opportunities to rake in serious cash. We decided to dig back into the data — this time for April — to see which places are most effectively earning money on a per-visit basis. We also take this opportunity to compare numbers from January with the latest stats to analyze the similarities and differences.
Here is a list of the top 20 most successfully monetizing games on ROBLOX in April:Continue reading
April 15th can be a rough day–that’s the last day for millions of Americans to scrounge up a heap of documents from the past year and file their (ugh) taxes. With that dreadful day looming on the horizon, we’re declaring a tax holiday this weekend to spread a little financial relief! Starting this Friday, we’re cutting marketplace fees in half, meaning all transactions will be subject to only a 15% fee (as opposed to our normal 30%). What does this mean for users?Continue reading
We’re always looking for ways to make the ROBLOX economy more flexible and dynamic. In the past year, we’ve introduced and enhanced our trading system, added affiliate gear sales and game passes, and created a group treasury, among other things. Today, we’re kicking off a beta test for yet another economy feature: the ability to purchase and trade multiple copies of the same limited item.Continue reading
ROBLOX already features a robust trading system where Builders Club members can exchange goods and barter for limited items and weapons, but actual Robux have never fit into the equation. Starting today, we’re enhancing the system by allowing you to add Robux to trades. This new feature will allow users to make more equitable trades, while simultaneously setting the ground work for some upcoming innovations.
