Community

We are concerned to hear about a recent incident in Georgia involving the grooming of a minor who was using our platform. The safety of all users on Roblox is at the core of everything we do and has always been our highest priority. There is nothing more important to us, and to every parent — including the many who work at Roblox — than ensuring children are safe on our platform. We take seriously Roblox’s unique responsibility around safety, as many young users spend hours on our platform learning, socializing, playing and creating. We understand our job is never done and will continue to work tirelessly to protect our community.

As we continue to work to understand the details of this situation, we also have contacted law enforcement to gather further information and offer our willingness to help however we can.

Our safety-first culture means we prioritize actions that protect our users, and we have built stringent safety systems with a team of thousands of moderators who review every piece of content published on our platform and help us enforce a strict set of community standards, including zero tolerance for sexual content of any kind. We provide a robust set of features and initiatives specifically aimed at protecting the younger members of the Roblox community, including filtering all text chat on the platform to block inappropriate content, attempts to bring a player off our platform or questions related to personal information like age, phone number or address; allowing parents and caregivers to restrict whom children can interact with or what experiences they can access and even turn off chat altogether; and the ability for users to mute or block players and to report inappropriate content or behavior. We also have multiple features aimed at helping parents learn about safety controls  and online civility. As with any community, there are a small number of bad actors who may attempt to undermine or skirt the rules, and we relentlessly evolve our platform and policies to thwart this unacceptable behavior.

We always cooperate with law enforcement requests and proactively report any suspect behavior to relevant organizations such as the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) in the United States.
